Lancaster PA has been featured in US News & World Report as the 3rd best places to retire in 2023 with Harrisburg PA#1 and Reading PA #2. Having lived here most of my life, I can attest to the ambiance of Lancaster County. Located 60 miles west of Philadelphia and within a 3 hour drive to NYC & Washington DC, the mountains, and the Atlantic Ocean beaches; Lancaster offers a rich cultural environment with great health care and affordable housing. The Fulton Opera House (1852) is the oldest continuously operating theatre in the U.S. Lancaster Central Market (1730) is the oldest farmers market in America. These 2 institutions sparked a city rejuvenation starting in the late 1990's with art galleries, restaurants and other entertainment venues & events flourishing today. Lancaster County is home to Franklin & Marshall College(1853), Millersville University(1855) and other higher educational institutions as well as 18 golf courses including Lancaster County Club which is hosting it's second US Women's Open in 2024.
